Frozen shoulder, medically known as adhesive capsulitis, is a condition characterized by the loss of motion in the shoulder joint due to thickening of the capsule surrounding it. This condition progresses through distinct stages: freezing, frozen, and thawing. During the freezing stage, patients experience significant pain alongside limited shoulder movement. As the condition advances to the frozen stage, stiffness intensifies while pain diminishes. Finally, in the thawing stage, gradual return of movement occurs. This process can be prolonged, often lasting up to 2-3 years for full recovery.
