Overview of Systemic Treatments for Atopic Dermatitis

  • Historical Context: Multiple systemic treatments for atopic dermatitis (AD) have been approved since 2017. However, most of these drugs, including lebrikizumab, have not been compared in head-to-head trials.
  • Objective of the Study: This study aims to compare the efficacy and safety of systemic immunomodulatory treatments for AD, including lebrikizumab, using a living systematic review and network meta-analysis. This comparison is essential as direct head-to-head trials are limited.
  • About Lebrikizumab: A monoclonal antibody targeting interleukin-13, approved by the European Medicines Agency in November 2023 for the treatment of moderate to severe atopic dermatitis, and is under review in other regions. It was previously evaluated only in placebo-controlled trials.
