Singapore is seeing a rise in COVID-19 cases, which health officials say aligns with anticipated periodic waves typical of endemic respiratory diseases.
From April 27 to May 3, estimated infections climbed to 14,200โup from 11,100 the previous weekโaccording to a joint update from the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Communicable Diseases Agency (CDA). During this time, average daily hospitalisations rose from 102 to 133, although ICU cases dipped slightly from three to two.
Authorities reassured the public that hospitals remain equipped to manage the increase. โLike other endemic respiratory infections, periodic COVID-19 waves are expected throughout the year,โ said MOH and CDA.
